Types of Services a Cloud can Provide
In the last post, I give a brief introduction to what is cloud and also what is cloud computing.
Now in this post, I will tell you about the question which I seem you will be asking next that
I will explain each service one by one.
Now in this post, I will tell you about the question which I seem you will be asking next that
How we are using Cloud and Cloud Computing in our daily routine?????
Most of you have used Google Drive, right, so what you are doing is you are using Google Drive as a Storage Service which is usually in cloud known as IAAS (Infrastructure As A Service).
There are three types of Services which cloud can provide to a client or customer, that are,
- Infrastructure As A Service (IAAS).
- Platform As A Service (PAAS).
- Software As A Service (SAAS).
I will explain each service one by one.
Infrastructure As A Service
As explained in the very first 2-3 lines by me that using storage services of Google, Microsoft or any other cloud is a IAAS, not only storage but also you can demand a or number of VCPU's from the cloud provider.
Now some of you didn't have a clue of what a VCPU is??? Alright, I tell you
A VCPU is virtual CPU which has all the components of a normal CPU but it is a virtually present for you, means you didn't have to purchase a hard-drive, RAM etc..etc.. things to do your work, you just have to demand a VCPU of your requirements and you will using it within minutes and you will to work on it as well.
Platform As A Service
Before explaining this service i had to ask a question from you that what do you mean by a platform???
Think for a few minutes, then check what you thought was right or wrong......
Platform.... A Platform is a environment to which the application of yours can be run.
So, by giving Platform As A Service, the service providers are providing you the pre-reqiured, pre-configured virtual environment for an application to be deployed by the developers and used by end-users.
For you to see an example of a Platform As A Service, there is a website which based on the Platform
As A Service named compileonline.com. Go to this website, check how it is working.......
Software As A Service
Software.... we all know what a software is right..... so
this service providers explain it as a delivery model where cloud provide business process and applications includes or hosts an application and makes it available to the customers or users on the basis of subscription. There is no upfront commitments, so the customer is spared to quit using software at any time as customers use the running software on the provider's infrastructure on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Here is a diagram to show the above written explanation
